Systems Design Engineer/Member of Technical Staff

Description and Duties

• Design reference design boards and evaluation systems. Participate in debug and productization of such boards with customers
• Work directly with customers to perform design reviews, evaluate customer designs and provide guidance/ recommendations
• Develop functional and design specifications
• Parts selection
• Board schematics design
• Design reviews
• Generating and approving BOMs
• Managing external layout contractors and board manufacturing and assembly
• Writing board documentation and test procedures
• Board bring-up and DVT
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing

Requirements

• B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in design, development and bring up of high-speed high-density boards for networking applications
• Proven ability to generate schematics, generate BOMs and guide constraint-based PCB layout for high speed board designs
• Experience with Cadence OrCAD CIS, Allegro PCB layout, and signal integrity analysis tools are highly desirable
• Experience designing with embedded CPUs, Ethernet PHYs, Gigabit/Multi-Gigabit SERDES, FPGAs, PCI-Express, PCI , DDR2 and QDR Memories, I2C, LDO and switching power supplies
• Understanding of manufacturing design issues, DFT & DFM as well as mechanical and thermal design constrains
• Experience conducting and coordinating DVT, including SI characterization, environmental testing, power characterization, stress testing
• Prior work experience in a start-up environment is desirable
